Home Check considers the real wind reaching the main door and how well the plan ventilates, to hold energy while keeping the home airy.
Glossary · Landform & water
Hide the wind, gather the qi藏风聚气
Explanation
This principle explains why feng shui prefers land with sha on both sides, support behind, an open bright hall in front and water that embraces it.
For modern homes, "hiding the wind" does not mean sealing the house: it still needs ventilation, only the air should enter gently, change direction and not rush straight through.
Classical source: The Book of Burial (Guo Pu, Jin dynasty)
How Home Check uses it
Questions
Where does the term "feng shui" come from?
From the Book of Burial of the Jin dynasty, in the passage saying qi scatters in wind and stops at water; energy gathered and guided by wind and water — hence feng shui.
Does hiding the wind conflict with ventilation?
No. Good ventilation lets air in at a moderate pace with a way out; hiding the wind only avoids strong straight wind that scatters energy.
