# Birth-year mountain (年命山)

> A person's birth-year mountain is the compass mountain that shares the Earthly Branch of their birth year. Someone born in a Zi year has the Zi mountain at due north; someone born in a Wu year has the Wu mountain at due south. The year is counted from the Start of Spring.

## Explanation

In home feng shui, many schools take note when the main door, or an unclean or very active item, falls exactly on a resident's birth-year mountain — a "birth-year mountain clash".

Since each person has their own birth year, one house can clash with one resident and not another; the wording should be specific: which mountain, whose.
