# The Ren 壬 mountain

> A house facing 345° is in the Ren 壬 mountain. Ren covers every bearing from 337.5° up to 352.5°, within the Kan 坎 trigram in the North, element Water. A house facing Ren sits Bing 丙 (157.5° – 172.5°) — described as sitting Bing, facing Ren. To be sure, measure the facing as an exact degree.

## When measuring and setting polarity

The closer a facing is to the 337.5° or 352.5° boundary, the more easily a measuring error pushes it into Hai 亥 or Zi 子. When a reading falls within 1° of either boundary, measure again at several points before setting polarity.

Once polarity is set, every room, door or item lying within the 337.5° – 352.5° sector, seen from the center of the house, belongs to Ren.

## Questions about Ren

### Is a house facing 345° a North-facing house?

Yes, but that is not precise enough. The North spans 45° (337.5° – 22.5°) and holds three mountains, Zi, Gui, Ren; a house facing 345° is in Ren. Naming the mountain tells apart houses only a few degrees from each other.

### What does a house facing Ren sit on?

It sits Bing 丙, 157.5° – 172.5°. Sitting and facing are always exactly 180° apart.
