# The Geng 庚 mountain

> A house facing 255° is in the Geng 庚 mountain. Geng covers every bearing from 247.5° up to 262.5°, within the Dui 兑 trigram in the West, element Metal. A house facing Geng sits Jia 甲 (67.5° – 82.5°) — described as sitting Jia, facing Geng. To be sure, measure the facing as an exact degree.

## When measuring and setting polarity

The closer a facing is to the 247.5° or 262.5° boundary, the more easily a measuring error pushes it into Shen 申 or You 酉. When a reading falls within 1° of either boundary, measure again at several points before setting polarity.

Once polarity is set, every room, door or item lying within the 247.5° – 262.5° sector, seen from the center of the house, belongs to Geng.

## Questions about Geng

### Is a house facing 255° a West-facing house?

Yes, but that is not precise enough. The West spans 45° (247.5° – 292.5°) and holds three mountains, Geng, You, Xin; a house facing 255° is in Geng. Naming the mountain tells apart houses only a few degrees from each other.

### What does a house facing Geng sit on?

It sits Jia 甲, 67.5° – 82.5°. Sitting and facing are always exactly 180° apart.
